old military navy movie

hi, for years i have been trying to find a movie i saw as a child that meant alot to me, i have watched many movies trying to find it and never seem to .. i probably watched it in late 70's or early 80. and then it was probably 20-30 years old...... it was about a navy ship with a sorry captain and the crew got him relieved of his command using a military lawyer that was first against helping, and then after he won the case and the crew was celebrating the lawyer came in and started screaming @ them and telling them if they had supported him in the first place his life probably wouldn't have ever had to be ruined....

no, sorry, i don't remember anything more than i loved it and what i wrote above....got any ideas @ all i can look into? even a good guess could help
