I saw a movie a few years ago and don't remember the title or any of the actors/characters' names. It's been bothering me for the past few days and I'm dying to find out what movie this was. Here's some information about the plot that I remember:

The film is definitely an indie flick. I first saw it on Showtime On Demand back in 2004, I believe. The two main characters are two Hispanic brothers. The film takes place in New York City, and I believe in the Lower East Side, though I am not positive on that point. I do remember that the older brother is something of a negative influence on the younger one, pulling him into a world of gangs and violence. There is a shooting at some point in the film, and probably more than one.

The younger brother has a girlfriend, a Hispanic girl who attends a Catholic school. The girl's father strongly disapproves of the romance because he thinks the boyfriend is a bad influence. Subsequently they have to sneak around; I recall one scene where they kiss on the roof of a building.

It's not a lot to go on, but I hope that someone recognizes the plot! The first person that does gets $10 from me by Paypal.

Unfortunately, nope. The movie I'm thinking of is much newer and is set in New York, not Los Angeles. The main characters are a bit younger too, in their teens.
