| | | Looking for title of 70's children's movie about a kangaroo I'm wondering if anybody knows the name of an old 70's-ish movie we used to watch in elementary school in the 70's-early 80's. It was about a joey kangaroo that (maybe) got injured, and the movie was a story of how it got better and then released. I swear it was called "Joey", but I can't find any information about it anywhere. It wasn't animated but was in color. Thanks for any help you can share. | | | | | | |

| joey (1997) >> not quite the right date
This straight to video release tells the story of twelve year old Billy McGregor who lives on a ranch in the old, rugged Australian Outback with a loving mom and lots of great animal friends. He cares and watches over all the animals, but his favorite is a baby kangaroo named Joey. Things are quite peaceful for Billy until poachers invade the land and kidnap Joey's parents. Billy knows that without his parents Joey's life is in danger, and he must do whatever it takes to reunite Joey with his rightful family. So he boards a train for the city of Sidney where Kangaroo Kingdom, a kangaroo refuge, and Joey's parents await. On the way, Billy meets Linda Ross a U.S. Governor's daughter, and she joins in the hunt for the elusive Kangaroo Kingdom. What the two discover will not only put their lives in danger but will alter their futures forever. This recently released video is a story about friendship and love. It's action and positive message about going the distance for a friend will tend to hold childrens attention, but the slow pace of the film may make it only fairly appealing to them. |

I have that movie. It's not great but decent for a kid. I don't think it's what the poster is looking for though. However, I don't have another suggestion. |

Unfortunately it is not the kangaroo movie Joey, since that was made way, way after the movie I was thinking of. Thanks for your help though. I did find the name of the movie, which is called "Me and You, Kangaroo". You can find it on youtube, and it's a great movie filled with some wonderful life lessons. The director also made a few others that are also great classic short films. Can't think of his name right now, but worth your time. Thanks again! |
