film title needed

I remember watching an old movie when I was a child and would love to know the title. It was about a crew of wartime airmen who had crashlanded in a desert. the story unfolds as the bodies of the airmen are discovered. The viewer then realises that the crew all perished in the landing and that we have been watching the story of them 'waiting' to be discovered.
Any ideas?
