A cartoon movie about a girl with a string

I need help remembering the name of this movie...
It is a old cartoon, kids movie
It is about a girl who gets given a majic roll string.
i dont remember it completly, but she ends up in a monsters cave underground.
I remember two scenes one in the forest and one in the monsters bedroom.
I know it is not very good discription, but if anythinks it sounds like a movie they have heard of please give me the name!

I believe you will be looking for The Black Cauldron. It was released in 1985.
