I can only remember the plot. Basically, a war caused a race of humanoids to be separated. Some of them lived in the water and other's on land. The people in the water could not walk the land or else the sun would kill them. The people on land had wings but could not enter the water or they'd die. Communication between the two was forbidden.

The movie was about a prince who lived in the water meeting a winged princess on land one night. The two fall in love or whatever, but the princess's mother finds out, locks her up, and later makes her queen. The prince's family goes nuts, I think, causing his best friend to die. In a last ditch effort he walks on the land to find the princess(now queen), but dies when the sun's light hits him. The queen finds his corpse, picks it up, and walks into the water and dies too.

Yes, I know, what a great movie for kids! lol Anyway, does anyone know the name of it by any chance. I don't remember the animations style, but I think it looked a little anime-ish. I watched it in the early 90s, but it could have been made in the 80s. I need to know. It's drving me mad.

I had been hunting this one down too.
It's called the Sea Prince and the Fire Child. It's a Japanese film that's very hard to find and only available on DVD in Japan.
