okay.. Umm the movie is about a princess and a slave or lower class man who sews gold into her clothes and shoes. They fall in love but there is a evil old woman or someone who stops them from seeing each other. There is one scene i remember where just after he puts gold into her shoe in a shape of a love heart, he is flying on a carpet and the evil lady closes a giant black and white door on him and kicks him out of the castle. I think most of the movie is in black and white. I think the characters are meant to be arabian or something like that because most of the buildings are similar to the ones in aladdin.. Also.. I know it was popular (in australia atleast) because i used to rent it out from Video Eazy when i was four or five.

Yeah, actually that IS the Thief and the Cobbler. I know exactly the scene you are talking about with him sewing gold into her shoe in the shape of a heart. And you probably remember it in black and white because the cobbler and everybody else is pale, and the colors are dull until the climax, the colors get bright, and the people get tan.
Try renting it just to make sure, and either way it's a great movie and really funny
