Is there any way to get a loan modification without proof of income?

The loan modification seems like a nightmare what steps can be done without complete proof of income?

Since last year the loan companies and banks have required more and more paperwork from prospective clients when it comes to anything that even remotely sounds like a mortgage or a refi. You need the proof of income or they won't bother with you.
