Video cable connected

I'm not sure whats going on all of a sudden my monitor wont work. The green power light is an amber color now on my compaq so I tried switching monitors seeing if maybe that would trigger something... I plugged in a HP monitor into my compaq and got a Video cable connected? question on the screen of the monitor. Does anyone know whats going on with my computer. I might add that I have not used my computer for a long time it has been sitting in storage for quite sometime. Some feed back would be much appreciated. Thank you so very much.

Try wiggling the SVGA cable around. I have seen the chassis mount loosen on the monitor electronic board, or internally broken wires on the SVGA cable at the monitor. Check the SVGA socket on the video card, to see if a pin is not bent.
Hope this helps
