when you say the card won't fit, is this a new card you tried to install and does not fit into the slot?

nothing you can do if you have a pci-e card and board does not have the slot for it.

I assume you do have PCI slots and probably an AGP slot, will have to get hold of what will work for your board. If you purchased it, see if you can exchange it and if need be, bring PC to the store to make sure you get what you may need.

In meantime, use on-board one if not already

Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any Software or Hardware that you installed or setup.

What OS?

well if you deleted the original on-board drivers, you should still be able to start the computer attached to the on board card as when windows starts, if it does not find drivers for your video, Windows uses a generic VGA driver so the system will boot.

Did the on-board card work before or did it stop working and that is why you bought a new card?

And right now you have the monitor attached to the on-board vga output?
