Monitor No signal

hello, just yesterday i was on my computer (not the one im currently on) and i restarted my computer. As soon as it started to load up again, there was no display on the monitor, just a black screen as if the computer was off. Ive tried disconnecting the wires, ive plugged it into a different monior, same result. At this point im thinking its the video card, and praying it is not, as i dont have the money for a new one. Can anyone help me out?

My system XP. Installed new motherboard. Turned on CPU hooked up monitor, I hear motor & fan but no beep. Monitor is black. Keyboard light is black. Redline box says Please check signal. Made sure all connections are tight, inside and outside.
Monitor works on other computer.
One thing is different, I have to turn the pin cable upside down to connect it. It will not connect right side up as with the other computer.
Is this my problem? Do I need a new monitor cable for a new motherboard? Thank you for your suggestion. Regards, Dor
