Wavey display

Installed Burn & Go X CD burner and noted a wavey pattern on the left quarter of display (similar to window drapes). B & G recommended getting a later video driver (I have the latest). So uninstalled B & G and did a system restore. No help. Ideas?

I'm using a Dell computer with a Dell monitor (purchased in 2000), Windows XPHE, with Nvidia video card.

check you cable for possible looseness or bent pins..

Do as Tommyp suggests but also try:

re-install the video card driver.

Are there any electrical devices near to that side of the monitor - try moving it further away from anything that could interfere (magnets etc)

Thanks for responding. I have run through both suggestions plus I did a start in safe mode all of which did not correct the problem. Does this indicate a bad monitor?

I have found that if there is a motor like a fridge, or something similar causes a monitor to be wavey because of the magnetic field, just a thought for something to check.

Do you happen to have any unshielded speakers near the sides of the monitor or something else that is close by?I don't suggest this to anyone but I had an old monitor sitting...i used the top of the montor to hold a center speaker that had unshielded speaker wire..i saw wavy colored lines in the old monitor...so it can happen but is the monitor old or new?

Nothing electrical/magnetic relative to my computer has changed in the last 6 years. This problem started following the installation of a cd burner program. None of the corrective actions recommended by the software maker or this forum has resolved the problem. That is why I'm wondering now if it might be a monitor problem. Any thoughts?

It would be useful if you could try on another computer, if not, try reducing the refresh rate, resolution or colour depth!
