Looking for My Father

Hello..i'm very new at this but I am looking for my biological father...since my mom died in 1999 i have wanted to find him but don' t know alot about him..the only thing i know is that his name might be "Bill" and my mother Melissa Van Drew got pregant with my in Iowa...please if anyone knows how i go about finding him please let me know...thank you everyone!

firstly can i just say dont go expecting too much from this guy, he may want nothing to do with you - some people are just stupid like that.

Anyway, i presume you have done the simple thing like check on your birth certificate.

Presuming it isnt there the next thing you need to do is the same as if you were tracing your ancestry.


You try to access census records from the year of your birth in the place of your birth and see how many bill's there were.

Also there may be other information such as whom your mother lived with back when she was pregnant with you.

You need to dig deep basically, though dont go searching every bill in the place because it will get you no-where.

Also talk with your mothers friends, they may have little bits of information that you can piece together.


Its basically just like solving a mystery, sometimes you get lucky sometimes you never solve it. But its not the end of the world if you dont find your father, keep positive.
