He will be given a date to report to AIT, his training after basic.

There is not "safest" way, At times he may have a slight break between the training other times he will not.
He should know a week or two before the training is over as to his time frame

Well first of all I believe you are asking if he should be active duty or reserve. please correct me if i am wrong.

Second has he taken the ASVAB? If so what is his score? If he goes into the infantry he will have no real job training to take advantage of after he ETSs(gets out) or retires. If he takes a job such as Medical, Admin, Intelligence, ect.

These type jobs will give him an advantage when he leavs the army. If intellegence he will have a high value clearance to help him with a great govt job after leaving the military. if you want to know more please feel free to contact me.

Ok here's the thing: infantry is a job in the military, reserves is a branch of the military. It's like saying "Should I become a cop or FBI?"
