Free answers to math word problems
You are trying to decide from what company to buy your next 5-year supply of light bulbs. Would you look to the company whose light bulbs have the greatest mean or greatest median life?

1) Mean - having a value intermediate between the values of other quantities.
Ex. A mean diameter.
2) Median - the middle number of a series. If the sequence has an even number of values, the median is the average of the two middle values. (Examples:) the median of 1, 3, 4, 8, 9 is 4. The median of 1, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 is 6.

Let x be the number of coloured marbles.
Then, the number of plain marbles is x + 32.
The sum of those two gives 180, that is:
x + (x + 32) = 180
Find x. :)
