well my brother is always fighting with my mom because she wont buy him beer. he yells at her all night and pretty much every night. its getting to the point where i cant even sleep because im scared his gonna hurt her. i dont know who to talk to?

Living with an alcoholic is a rollercoaster ride.It is difficult to understand that they can’t help themselves and usually family members will find themselves affected deeply. It is a family disease as it affects the whole household.

When things are good and the drinking is under control , then everyone is happy well the drinker is. But when alcohol takes over again, it becomes a living nightmare as they will stop at nothing to get the next fix.

My father is an alcoholic and I have had to deal with it most of my life.

There are groups out there not only to help the drinker but also family members living with an alcoholic , they are experts in this field.

My heart goes out to you as my father will never accept he has a problem so no matter how many times I beg him to seek help it falls on deaf ears.

yeah, but i think he has more than acholic problems but same deal as you he refuses to get help.

Sorry you only mentioned alcohol what other problems do you feel he has or do they only appear when alcohol related?

well i think he might have adhd or something, and it just gets worse when he drinks

Well I guess he an adult and not much your or your mum can do to get him to seek medical help.

Sometimes tough love is called for - ship up or ship out !

My youngest brother has ADHD and ODD... Always angry and always fighting with mother.. I was so afraid that he may hit my mother and myself and hurt us along with other things such as embarrassment with his stealing on people and stuff that i initially started losing sleep over it..my schoolwork went from a high standard to a low standard becuz i was always tired then it progressed to self harming and an attempted suicide..

Im not saying you will try any of these but trust me..having tried them all none of them work as good as a counsellor.
If you are as annoyed, hurt, scared as you sound then i suggest you go see someone and have a chat about how your feeling.
Your brother is quite old to be with mum at 33 and if things do get violent then you's can tell him to leave and get a restraining order.. There are ways out of everything.

I agree with Laurenmichele8 that you need intervention not only from a counselor, but should also get help from law enforcement through the social services agency, if you are sincerely concerned about your mom.
