Talk to your doctor about your depression. He/she can help you get treatment, determine the cause, and give you a referral to a counselor. Many people suffer from depression, for a variety of reasons. It can be a chemical imbalance, stress, grieving, etc. There are many different treatment options. In addition to seeing your doctor, get a support system for yourself. Talk to a friend, family member, co worker, or whomever you feel comfortable with about your depression. If you are a religious person, talk to your religious leader. There are many support groups for people suffering from depression. Your doctor will be able to help you find one. It can really help to talk to a group of people who are dealing with the same issue. Also, check out these websites about depression:

Remember that you can't diagnose the cause or type of your depression online, which is why you should see your doctor. There is help out there, you just have to go looking for it. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Hey, I'm in my early fifties and have felt like you are now many times. As pointed out above, there are many treatment options.

Are there any particular things in your life about which you are depressed? If so, would you mind sharing about them here?

We are willing to listen, help and also share!

Well I suppose drinking has allot to with this depression,as well as occasional drug use. I find myself running from trying to escape the ickiness I feel inside, Kind of a neverending cycle it seems. I do not know anymore.I realy want to just be happy like I once was

Okay. Aside from the fact that you should avoid drinking too much and definitely not abusing any drugs - legal or not, why are you feeling the way that you do inside? Is there something going on in your life that is making you sad and/or frustrated about things that would give you reason to abuse yourself with mind-altering substances?

You can edit your own posts here for a least a couple of days.

So, have you been trying to get a new job? Does your girlfriend work?

Okay. You're gone from the site for right now. If you let me know when you will be on next by posting it here, I could try to be on at the same time. I am usually on late at night. I also know some other people around our same ages who are extremely loving, caring and understanding whom I could alert in to become a part of this post, if they haven't already noticed it, if you would like.

You mentioned you want to be happy like you were.....you have hope, therefore we encourage you to do something for yourself so you can achieve the happiness you had. I'm only 20 but have been depressed since i was like 16 maybe before. So i've had suicidal thoughts throughout all these years but here i am. Still wanting to move forward, struggling some but trying to move on. Because back then when i first started feeling like that, i really did feel there was no hope. Now i can tell you there is.
You do know that some of those things you mentioned can be dealt with perhaps? Did you loose your job because of your shoulder? Or is that a different story? Are you able to find yourself another job?
