Anxiety attacks

Asked Oct 2, 2008, 04:01 AM — 4 Answers
I started getting really bad anxiety. To the point where I was passing out in the middle of a shopping centre.
I took medication and felt fine so I eased myself off it.
Now my life has gone a-wall. I feel like I am in a huge rut.
I started getting anxiety even worse than before, to the point where I was in the doctors and it was so bad they had to give me 2 sedatives to calm me down.
I am back on meds. But I am going away next week and the thought of having an anxiety attack on the plane is really worrying me.

What does your Dr. Say about your easing off the medication? What change do you think occurred that would make the medicine unnecessary? If you have a fear of flying (with or without medicine) I don't think you should be flying right now. Follow your Dr's recommendations or find another Dr.

I have the same problem with going on a plane. I have anxiet and even with the two medications I am on, it scares me thinking about it. Sleeping pills for the ride may help. I STILL can't visit my girlfriend in El Salvador yet. But - here's an idea last time I went to Costa Rica - I was terrified of the take-off - when we started going up, I started to shake like hell - but, soon found that once above clouds, it all went away! I felt comfortable walking up and down, and kept in mind, I could always use the bathroom as a personal space to have a "time-out". I even flew on a Cessna 12 seater for 55 minutes in a horrific storm - and was braced in with harnesses! I was scared - but fact is, I got through it!

Moral: faster you do something without the time to think, faster it's over with
