Lump/Swollen side of penis

Hey all,

Today i returned home and noticed the left side of my penis (on the shaft near almost near the head) was swollen, and there was a lump that kind of feels like a trail of something maybe (almost like a hard string that goes halfway around the penis)? anyway, ive been researching for the past couple hours and havent found any info that fits perfectly into what it is.. im a virgin, but i have received oral sex, although the girl does not have stds.. i read something about semen being absorbed then rejected, or it being a clot of a vein or something, or even ring worm.. im 17 years of age, athletic and healthy

can anyone help me pleaseeeeee?

If it were just the bump, I'd say maybe just a zit...get to the doctor if it does not go away or come to a head within a week, but the "hard string/trail" you describe concerns me.

Don't let embarrassment get in the way; share your concern with your parents and have them take you to the doctor.

As I always say and as Rickj above has already said - get to the Doctor. The Doc always knows best, can get it treated if neccessary and above all put your mind at rest.

Hi,
At 17, I know it might be embarrassing or you might be a little "afraid" to go to a doctor, or have your parents take you.
I do agree with you other answers about Please go to a doctor.
I don't know what the "hard string" is either, never heard of it. A Doctor can help you. I do wish you the best, and good luck.
PS; Anytime you have any type of sex, without protection, you open yourself, and your partner up to Sexual Diseases. (Unless, of course, you are married and know each very well).

alright thanks for the advice guys .. btw could it be from just getting hit hard? i had an extremely physical soccer game yesterday and it was hit multiple times .. i think its really weird this would just come up so suddenly, could it be because of that? its still swollen, but it looks better (could be from me just not being so surprised as well), and theres no pain at all

what you are describing probably represents a thrombosis (clot) of a penile lymphatic vessel. Lymphatics are tissue vessels that are present all over the body connecting lymph nodes. It is a distinctly separate system from blood vessels (arteries and veins). Rather than blood, they carry an opaque fluid called lymph. Their function is to keep the tissues healthy by filtering out harmful substances (such as bacteria, viruses, tumor cells, etc.) and enhancing immunity. Sometimes during sexual activity, the lymphatics get bruised resulting in subsequent clot formation. One notices a firm, often finely beaded vessel under the skin of the penis that is mildly tender. This is not a dangerous condition and the clot resolves on its own in a few weeks unless there is recurrent trauma to the area. Therefore, sexual activity should be curtailed until healing has occurred.
