    Since 1982, I have been coaching executives on individual and organizational performance, personal balance, working relations from the board level downward, reconciling inner-life/outer-life issues, and personal-life/professional-life issues. Clients have come from a wide range of industries, circumstances, and roles. Most clients have been C-level executives in the Silicon Valley, but I have worked with state and county governments and government agencies, small businesses and family businesses, and professionals in private practice. I often deal with relationship conflicts, both at work and in people's personal lives.

    Prior to coaching, I researched, developed, and delivered training programs on interpersonal communication, strategic leadership, and managing organizational performance.

    I have practiced martial arts since 1960, tai chi chuan since 1964, and am the student of the late professor Cheng M'an-ching, and Grandmaster William CC Chen. Starting in the late 60s, I had over 40 magazine articles published, including several in T'ai Chi magazine, plus a book on natural medicine. Other martial arts include aikido - 20 years under Senseis Masahiro Nakazono, Yoshimitsu Yamada, and Koishi Tohei; tae kwon do - 2 years (a long time ago) under Min Pai, western fencing - 2 years (sabre) under Charles Selberg, boxing 5 years (also a long time ago) under Grandmaster Chen. I've taught Yang style tai chi since the early 1970s.

    Having dealt with many training injuries, and after struggling for many years with a spinal stenosis (bilateral pars break) that resulted from being hit by a car as a pedestrian in 1984, I developed a system for managing the chronically injured spine. For several years, I taught people with chronic back pain how to manage their backs, and seniors with ambulatory problems how to move.

    I studied Chinese medicine in Kenilworth, England, with Jack Worsley (circa 1970). Before that I studied under the great master Masahiro Nakazono, who was also my aikido teacher. I practiced for 12 years, combining acupuncture, diet, body work, NLP, and general counseling.

    I am the father of three grown sons, am still in love with my wife of 30 years, grow bamboo (18 varieties so far), enjoy landscape gardening, and have lived in New York, Paris, London, Santa Cruz, and Kihei.
