    Sex offenders on myspace.
My ex- husbend is a sex offender, he knows that he should not have a Myspace acct.So that's why he has changed his last name on his profile. I have reported it to Myspace, but they still have done nothing about it. What should I do now?

Call his P.O. or hell call the police and report it because there are a lot of children coming up missing because of this myspace and Facebook deal. So if you know someone that is a petifile and they are on sites that endangers children's safety then by all means report it because if my child's is ever encountered by one and I get my hands on them God help them.

As a sex offender he must be registered in the state registry. That would seem to be a good place to begin. My understanding is that myspace is being overwhelmed with getting these people off line and it may take some time.
I would assume they have to have some sort of evidence before they remove someone as you could just be someone out making a false claim.
    I would try the registry.

If he is no longer on probation or parole, you should contact your local Sheriff's Office and report this activity of your ex. They will handle the matter. You can go in person as well and speak with someone and show them the Myspace page or print out a copy of the page and take it with you.

In Ohio they need to register with the County Sheriff's office as well as the state. The county takes these people very seriously and will check it out.

I commend you on beginning the process of correcting what you know is wrong. Also for attempting to protect the innocence of another victim. Follow through.

I feel the next step is to call the police and let them handle it.Would you please do that so that he will not destroy other innocent children lives? It's just not fair.

Not allowing sex offenders on myspace is a great law, but how can it be enforced?

There is NO law or policy that keeps sex offenders from myspace.

WoW, I called the Orlando Police Dept. and they pretty much said that I have to look up his file and read to see if he is restricted from having a myspace acct. myself and call them back if so. So I guess that's why sex offenders get away with what they do..

Melanie, are you still with your husband? IF so why don't you ask him about his restrictions or contact his PO officer and discuss with them. Spend the energy in helping him and letting him know that someone is watching and aware. They are simply letting you know that they don't have the resources to follow up on every tip that someone calls in with. Start with the people that are closer to your husband and the people that are charged with making sure that he doesn't violate the terms of his probation or release. It's really not my business, but you have put it out there for us so I am going to ask, why do you think him having a Myspace account is a great threat to society? Is he at risk for reoffending? Do you have any other evidence of him being tempted? Maybe it is how you are presenting your information to them? If you are still with him, get him help!

That is ridiculous. So, in other words, they won't get involved until a crime has already been committed.I thought the whole concept of a registry ,etc. was to prevent crime.
I looked for places on line to do something pro active and I see this general apathy about this problem. It seems that many in the dot com world think this is problem is *being blown out of proportion*.
On the other side of the coin is the fact that 90,000 would be predators having been blocked is considered to be a drop in the bucket by some but still nothing is being done.
Maybe the registry is the way to go. I hope you find at least one sympathetic ear who is willing to take action.

If he is a sex offender, registered, he has a probation officer. Report him to that person.

There are many dangerous people on the sex registry. Some some states a 18 year old sleeping with a 16 for example, peeing outside could get someone on this list.It not always as simple as everyone on the list is an evil monster.Rape, having sexual contact w. a young child, other things people deserve harsh penalties. There probably are a lot of people on that list, that there action is causing them to be on that list for life. They served there sentence,it's been 10,20,30 years later that list still haunts them.

I would like to know the names of States that place people urinating outside on the sex offender list.

It is very hard to take you seriously on a legal board when you use text speak.

For your information, in some States an 18 year old having sex with an underage person IS rape.
