I have a jacuzzi well pump down about 65 feet. The control panel has two starting capacitors (one oblong metal and one round plastic) and a relay. The black capacitor continues to melt down and loose all of it's oil. I replace it and it lasts a short while before it melts again.

I have replaced the capacitor and relay. I had the metal capacitor checked and it is good. I found that some of the wire connections were loose. I tightened them and thought I had found the problem. Not true. I took the circuit board out of the panel and found that there were 2 cracked solder connections. I fixed them today. Not sure if that will fix it.

What do you all think? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The black plastic capacitor is a start capacitor and the main cause for them to go bad is the start relay staying closed to long due possibly to burnt contacts in this relay sticking together.
The oval capacitor is a run capacitor, this stays energised when ever the pump runs, the start capacitor is only energised on startup of the pump motor.
Your loose connection could have been part of the problem.
If you have to replace it again go to a higher voltage.Example if it is now 250 volt go to 330 volt. Stay with the same uf rating. Good luck. Mike
