Why do you want to know, please?

I would like to help you. But, ethically, I don't think that would be a wise choice on my part. What if someone here finds a pill that looks exactly like the pill that you describe, and then types or copies and pastes the incorrect information about the pill in an answer? What if the pill you found is actually a counterfeit pill and made to look exactly like some other pill?

I would suggest checking out the information that you might find on the following site or preferably take it to a pharmacist for proper identification and proper disposal. The site below is good, but not foolproof. But, to be sure, I would take it to a pharmacist. Anyone answering you here runs the risk of the ramifications if they answer and are incorrect no matter what you say the reason or reasons are as to why you are asking.

Below, is the site to which I am referring:

    Pill Identifier - Drugs.com

I don't know what the pill is. I don't know you and you don't know me. I could say the pill was something that it is not. What might happen next? What if the information you have been given here is incorrect? Maybe the pill is something harmless? I don't know. What if you decided to believe what I said is true and then you take the pill and something bad happens to you because you have taken it when I have said that it is something harmless? What if I was really wrong and the pill could turn out to be something deadly to you if you took it, or you said that you asked an "expert" on this online site who said that they were really sure of what the pill was and that you should not worry about going any further with trying to identify the pill? There are people who really answer that way on this site. Please see information about that on the following link if you have any doubt as to people actually acting like theirs is the last word on the identification of a pill.

Reliable pharmacists are usually very easy to find around where you live, and can visit with you and see the pill first hand.

    Clough,

Thanks for the advice. I was merely trying to be helpful, and in giving the source for my answer and using the wording "appears to be", was trying to point tlbnbwm1130 to a Website where they could make their own, more definite, determination. However, I understand your viewpoint and have deleted my answer. As you state, a pharmacist would be a much better source of info.

Perhaps you should edit your answer to delete the answer I gave.

    Any other suggestions?

I appreciate your response, makdan! And accordingly, I have deleted the answer that you gave that I quoted in my answer and also watered mine down a bit to fit the original question a little bit better.

I know that you were trying to be helpful, makdan. That is something that is really appreciated on this site! When I first joined this site, I was trying to answer every question that I could. I wanted to be as helpful as I could. However, it wasn't long before I realized that there are certain types of questions that it would be better for us to just simply refer to someone or someplace else because of the risks of liability.

If by chance, you feel that I came down on you too harshly, then please accept my apology. I know that you do understand where I am coming from on this issue and that I want to make sure that you, the original poster, myself and also this site are protected just in case someone might want to make some sort of issue out of something like the following possible scenario occurring: "Well, I took the pills because some Expert on Ask Me Help Desk said that they knew exactly what the pills were." Or, maybe the following: "Well, I took the pills because some Expert on Ask Me Help Desk said that they were sure of what the pills were, and that I didn't need to look any further concerning the identification of them."

    Thank you, kindly!

Might be and might not be. I'm not sure what it is. I don't know because I'm not a pharmacist and I'm not going to be giving any good guesses as to what it might be because I might be incorrect. I'm not willing to take that risk.

Do you think that it's okay for you to be giving out information concerning the identifications of pills to a stranger?

If it's not prescribed for you then you had better not be taking it no matter what someone here says that it is. You can take it to a pharmacist for proper identification and proper disposal.

Even if it might be an over the counter drug, do you think that it is wise for you to be identifying drugs for strangers?

I have gone through cabinets cleaning out shelves and ran onto a pill here or there that was left out. I could not for the life of me figure out what it was. As expensive as meds are, even across the counter meds, I just feel wasteful if I just toss them but because of an incident early on, I do just toss them.

I had gotten my prescription med, got home and started to take it. It was the exact color with the exact marking and color in the middle of the capsule. However, the capsule was smaller than I usually take. I debated over it, decided that probably the manufacturer just had found a way to cut down on the size of the capsule, other wise, why would it be marked the same. I took it for four days. I kept feeling weird about it. When finally taking it to the pharmacist, he quickly took them, threw them in the trash. Never said a word, refilled the Rx with correct capsules. When asked what I had been taking, he told me and it was a med that I had taken over the counter in a lesser dose before and had problems with it. Going without the correct Rx could have caused a lot of trauma to my body. The pharmacist never said sorry, or anything. He was probably afraid of a law suit or was embarrassed. Anyway, that is one reason I just toss them if I don't know for sure. It is just good to be cautious.

The pill identifier link given by Clough is good if you still feel the need to know without tossing the pill but even then, still be cautious. Wishing you good health and a "HAPPY NEW YEAR"!!! :)
