They are one and the same according to the 2007 Mosby's Nursing Drug Reference. They are just different generic names for the drug Hydrocodone. They are different names because they are by different drug manufacturers.

The length of time is 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 hours (half-life). However if you are asking how long they are in the system as far as taking a drug test and the ability for the drug to show up is about a month.

The difference is the amount of the 2 active ingredients.
Vicodin contains 5 mg of Hydrocodone and 500 mg of acetaminophen (tylenol)
Lorcet+ contains 7.5 mg of Hydrocodone and 750 mg of APAP (the abbreviation for acetaminophen)

So the Lorcet+ is the stronger of the 2, because there's more hydrocodone in it.

THe half life of hydrocodone is 4 hours depending on several factors (weight ,age, metabolism ,and usage amount are several factors). One single dose can have a detection on a urine sample for up to 5 days.

J_9 agrees : Great answer!!! My Drug book did not make these distinctions. However, Wikepedia is not a great source for medical info other than definitions according to many college professors.
