Vicodin

Just wanted to know how long it takes for Vicodin to completely clear from your system. I have been taking this since approx. 1999, only 1/2 to one pill a day or every other day maybe, nothing consistent, but have taken it for years. About 4 mos. ago I broke out in an itchy rash that will not completely go away. Can this be related to the Vicodin, and if so, how long would it have to be stopped to see if this is what is causing the rash?

Thank you.
Erin

Hi Erinn,
Yes, hives can be a sign of an allergic reaction to Vicodin. Though, as you've had the rash for four months, and this is generally considered a fairly serious reaction, it would be difficult to say for sure if this is the cause. Either way though, I would not take the prescription any further, and it would be good to contact a doctor as soon as possible to look into it. If this is the cause, it should subside in time, though I would still seek medical attention fairly promptly, just to be safe.
Take care.
