My wife and I have been reading a book called "Natural cures they dont want you to know about" By Kevin Trudeau. He talks about how bad perception and non prescription medicine is for you, And how the Dr's just prescribe medicine because the drug companies give them incentives. just myself I went to the Dr. and he took my blood pressure 1 time and it was high and he put me on medication.Nothing about changing my diet or exercising for amonth or so and lets check it next time you come in, also we have been doing some reading about how bad vaccines are for children. Controversy about how learning disabilities and Autism are linked to them. The more I read the more I believe. ( And I'm in the medical field) I just wanted to know what you guys think about all this and do you agree with the Dr.s or all this new info about medicine and all organic fruits and vegetables and natural cures???????????

First of all, the doctor should NOT have given you HTN medicine with just one HBP reading. To be considered for HTN you must have 3 high readings on 3 different occasions.

Secondly, medications such as antibiotics are absolutley NECESSARY when there is an infection, such as a bacterial infection, to rid the body of the offending bacteria.

Thirdly, there are studies about vaccinations and autism/learning disabilities, but that has not been proved definitively. Understand also that if you have children they will NOT be admitted to school without vaccines.

Vaccines have eradicated our country of terrible horrific diseases such as smallpox, just to name one.

No, I do not agree with I believe they can aid in health maintenance, but they are by no means total and complete cures.

yes in that too many doctors give out prescriptions way to fast But items like vaccinations and some medications that are extremely needed and helpful. Now other items in a holistic treatment is the best

The ones that want you to leave all of established medication are as bad at using scare tatics as the ones that are in the established medicine doing the same against other treatment methods

I have a great doctor. I just took my 5 year old today for a wound on his finger. Looks like a brown recluse bite, or maybe MRSA. The doctor stated that it looked like it was healing and that she would not be giving him antibiotics at this point because there were no serious signs of infections. She stated that she did not want to risk him becoming resistant to antibiotics if she prescribed them when not absolutley necessary. She told me to come back if the wound appeared to get worse.

You see, many doctors treat and street, it is imperative to find one that you can communicate well with and one who deals in the holistic approach as well as the medicinal approach if and when warranted.

Right, I think a balance of medicine when needed and a holistic approach is a better way to go then just medicine all the time. my Dr. told me I had a hernia and that I could either live with the pain or get an operation and I would be fine. I went to a Chiropractor and with in 3 visits I was fine. I 'm sure not all Dr.'s are in it for the money but A LOT of them are, I see it every day, I work along side of them.

Many doctors are in it for the money, yet there are some that are so old and out of touch that they should not be practicing. There is one old one here in my town that tried to give my daughter (years ago) a prescription for 6 months worth of antibitoics for a freaking WART!!! He prescribes for EVERYTHING!!

Now I did not fill the prescription because I am smart enough to know that a wart is a virus and will go on it's own. We just wanted a referral to a dermatologist to get the wart taken off as it was embarrassing her (she was a 6 year old prima dona at the time).

While the points you make are interesting, and I agree with some, not all, it goes to show that each of us must be proactive in our approach to our own health.

Doctors are our employers, if we don't like them we fire them and find one that we do like.

After my cancer experience I have learned to interview my doctors prior to becoming one of their patients. I literally interview them as interviewing for a job. Many of them look at me rather funny when I do this, but I have gotten the utmost respect from the doctors I do now have, including my children's pediatricians. They now ask me what my preferred method of treatment/medications are prior to prescribing anything. We discuss treatment options together to come to a mutual agreement.

I just wish all people would be proactive like this.

Very interesting job I am sure. I will be working in cardiology for clinicals next spring.

No, I have never read that book, I will have to check it out.
