Prednisone and Glutamine

Hi, I'm new on this forum and wanted to hear if anyone has heard anything about taking glutamine while you're on Prednisone.

I have colitis and been on prednisone for a couple weeks, I'm also an athlete and been getting back into the gym.

I have taken glutamine in the past and have read good things about it as far as it helping some people with colitis.

From all the searches I've done I see no information about whether its ok to take glutamine while on prednisone.

If any of you have any information or insight it will be much appreciated.

Thank you

Dietary supplementation can reverse the susceptibility to infections caused by prednisone. Both arginine and glutamine as well as dehydroepiandrosterone may be useful therapeutic agents for preventing infections in steroid-treated patients.

This information came from the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.

It appears that the glutamine will help you stay healthier while taking the prednisone and lessen your risk of infections.
