Are you talking about the difference between metoprolol succinate vs metoprolol tartarate? Succinate is the generic version of Toprol XL, which is dosed once daily. Tartarate is dosed twice daily. Succinate is on backorder right now, so a lot of people have been switched to the tartarate form.
