| | | How soon can Xanax be detected in urine?

14 Answers I took 0.5 mg of xanax 3 hours before a 10 panel urine test and 10:30pm the previous night. I have been taking 0.5mg every night for a year. The doctor gave me the test in the afternoon and I had to drink 4 cups of water in order to be able to pee. Will it still test positive for benzos? I have to test positive to prove that I take my medicine but I feel that my weak dosage and all that water hurts me. Thread Summary |

It should test positive; so you shouldn't have anything to worry about; benzodiazepines such as xanax are detectable in the urine for a few days from single use and for a few weeks in daily use. | | | | Ultra Member

| | | At least they used an expanded panel test, necessary for detecting BZ.
Low dosage and dilution could cause a problem. Metabolites are measured in proportion to volume and concentration of urine. BZ uses a cutoff of 200 ng at the screening level. The drug must be present and in sufficient quantity to rise above the cutoff.
Ingestion of water in close proximity to drug testing is contraindicated. Dilute urine results in less drug per unit of urine. You should have been asked to wait.

Was that noted on your form? | They didn't note anything. I even told them that I urinated 3 times before I was called in because it didn't know anything about having to take a urine test. They never asked me my current meds or otcs or even let me read or explain the permission slip that I signed. Everything happened so fast and I didn't want to offend my doctor of 14 years but everything was kind of done unprofessional and half-assed. If it comes back negative should I tell my doctor all this and demand another test before I lose him as a doctor and lose my required meds? | | | | Ultra Member

It was flat in the back and had a cylinder in the bottom and decal decoration all over it. The kind some doctor's offices use to lay down and xerox the results. I guess they wouldn't send it to a lab unless I tested positive for illegal drugs which I don't do illegal drugs. I just want my doctor to know I take my xanax , I am allowed to take up to 3 mg a day everyday, but it says as needed so I average 0.5- 1mg a day unless I'm under a lot of stress like now. Over the weekend I took only 1 every night and 0.5 the morning of the test. But I've been taking a minimum of 0.5- 1.0 xananx every night for a year. | | | | Ultra Member

Some collection cups check nothing but temperature and creatinine and ensure the sample it is not adulterated.
However, if it was an instant test, then they knew the results while you were there.
Sounds like you will just have to wait and hope for the best. It is possible that it will detect the BZ. Just poor collection practice. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | Add your answer here.
