BC options/stopping breastmilk production

Hello. I have a question regarding what kind of BC would be good for me right now. I am fairly certain that I do not want any more children ever, but am not 100% sure so I don't want to do anything permanant. I also dislike taking a pill everyday, having to go to the pharmacy every month, etc so I am thinking of a long term BC that is not risky. I have used Depo before and I didn't like the side effects, pimples and almost constant spotting.....and I used it for about 3 yrs and still got side effects the whole time!! I was thinking of Mirena.

Another issue to consider is that I am looking for something that will quickly and as painlessly as possible help me to "dry up" my breastmilk. I am currently BF'ing a baby but it is time to stop, and her Dr said the time is fine to wean her and she recommended cold-turkey, which is how I've always done it. It is so painful though!! I thought I had heard that certain types of BC hormones can dry up the milk and make this a better experience instead of a horrendously painful one!! Last time I quit BF'ing, my breasts swelled so bad and were so painful and I got an infection (mastitis).

So, would the Mirena dry up the breastmilk?? Also, since I've been BF'ing, I haven't had a period at all since the birth, so is it a good possibility that maybe I won't experience the irregular bleeding and spotting that is common with this method??

If Mirena doesn't dry up milk, what does? Could I have the Mirena put in and also take another hormone BC that would dry up the milk??

I don't know if my insurance covers Mirena or any BC, so does anyone know what Mirena costs if I had to pay for it out of pocket?

I wanted to get a sample of opinions here before calling my Dr so that I know what I want to do. Thanks for any help.

PS I already went to the Mirena site, but the info is not really as in depth as I need. It was very basic and not so helpful.
