| Bleeding from Ultrasound Procedure I am hoping a Radiologist will read this...and help me find some answers. I bleed (vaginally) from having any kind of ultrasound procedure. I have seen a gynaecologist and in October 2006 he did a D&C (found nothing).
Unfortunately, I have had a number of medical issues that require the ultrasound procedure...whether it be on the leg or the abdomen/kidneys, the elbow or shoulder. After EACH one I bleed. The latest bleed has lasted 10 days (and still counting), is very very heavy (changing pad every hour), contains bright red blood (for the most part). It is only just starting to turn dark and get lighter...again it started two days after the ultrasound.
After the first ultrasound plus bleed, I thought - OK, that's weird...wrong timing (of what I thought was a period). The second one... hmmmm... The third to sixth ultrasound (in the past two years)...this is no longer a coincidence.
I have searched the Internet for research on the subject, to no avail. My GP, my gynaecologist, my Internal Med Specialist, just look at me very puzzled and just shrug their shoulders. Next week I intend to ask the radiologist, as I am scheduled for yet another ultrasound.
I am 49 years old and for the past 3 years I have had irregular periods. I have a thyroid issue (take synthroid), and take topomax for basilar migraines.
Any thoughts? Can you point me to any research on the subject? Surely, I can't be the only human on the face of the earth with this problem.
Kindest regards...and I look forward to your comments...
