| Does the entire hand go numb, or only certain fingers? Does she wake up in the middle of the night with numbness?
Carpal tunnel syndrome is the compression of the median nerve at the wrist. It causes numbess on the palm side of the thumb, index, middle, and usually half of the ring finger. Tapping on the wrist just below the palm will irritate the nerve, sending "zingers" or numbess into the above mentioned fingers. Her family doctor can diagnose this and get her started with some conservative treatments. |
