Artificial Insemination - Where do you recommend To get this procedure?

I was just told by my urologist that I have a medical condition that I was born with that is causing me to produce a low amount of sperm (1.5 million to be exact). He said there is nothing that he can do for me and that the chances of getting my fiancee pregnant are extremely unlikely, but not impossible. We are not trying to have a baby yet, but we want to have one with in the next year or two at the latest. We have talked about going for artificial insemination in the future if the natural way does not work. Unfortunately we can not afford to have it done in the US because it is too costly, so we plan on going to another country. I was hoping someone else had an experiece in having this procedure done outside the US and could share the experince and the costs. One place we are thinking of going for this procedure is Thailand. We have to do more homework first before we decide. I figure it is best to check into it now, so I will be well informed if the natural way does not work. Please let me know your opinions, thoughts, and experieces. Much appreciated!

hi manny

i live in australia and my husband and i had to have insemination done because my husband sperm count was only 200,000 (so yours is really not that low) it cost us between 3,000.00 and 4,000.00 cant remember the exact figure. We were lucky it was a success the first time. I know people that are on their 10th go and hasnt worked yet. So it can be a really expensive excercise. With my husbands sperm count being so low we never used any contraception, but low and behold my third daughter was conceived naturally. So if my husband and i can conceive with such a low sperm count maybe you should just keep trying for awhile. (Enjoy the exercise while you can)

Good Luck

I don't know where you live Manny, but if you don't live in Thailand, why go there?

You could seek the help of a fertility clinic in your area.

Hi Kaytlynk,
Thank you for sharing your experience. I feel a lot better now knowing that you were able to conceive a baby with only a 200,000 sperm count. Hopefully we will be able to have the same luck.

Hi J_9,
The reason why we are considering Thailand is because she is from there, and we go there often to see her family. We are currently living in the San Francisco area, which just happens to be incredibly expensive to do anything around here. I think it would be a good idea to check out a fertility clinic in our area. We will definitely do that some time in the near future. Thanks for your help.

I know of a website were you can buy insemination kits online for a reasonable price, I have actually purchased a kit and it offered a lot of information on artifical insemination, the best times to inseminate and all the equipment needed.www. insemination-help.com good luck

Hi Manny Mo,
My wife & I have just started looking tonight to do pretty much the same. My wife is also Thai living in Hawaii for 4yrs now, wants a child in the worst way, and I can't have kids, so we are looking. I haven't emailed the hospitals in BKK yet, but I'd like to tell you what I do know.
Bumrungrad Hospital (Bumrungrad International Hospital | Bangkok, Thailand) and Yanhee hospital (Yanhee International Hospital) are both top notch hospitals.
I don't know if Yanhee (Wongsuwan/ Bango district, off Rama 7) does inseminations, but I would definately inquire for advise as they have a good english email reply sys.
Bumrungrad (Sukumvit, soi 3) is a 5 star Intl. Hospital and I am almost sure they provide this service as friends of my wife told her they artificially insemin. at Bumrungrad with success the 1st time. They also have a great english email system set up. Pay a little caution to your wallet with them as they do tend to over service a bit. I went in with intestinal pains near vomiting and the doc looked at me for 5 sec. then immediately recommended I go on I.V. and stay the night. Later I learned from others, they almost always do this rather than providing antibiotics and sending you on your way for the extra room & I.V. fee revenues & excelent service ratings that follow (5 star

We'd greatly appreciate to hear what you have learned so far.
We are going to look into:
Home kits,
Hawaii (gotta be expensive just like SFO),
California,
and even BKK (we too frequent).

Sawadee & Aloha,
Ae & Dan
