About Precordial Catch Syndrome!

Hi, my brother is 24, healthy otherwise but since yesterday he's been complaining of sharpening pain in the left side of the chest near the heart. Tonight while watching TV he suddenly starts crying because the pain is unbearable. The doctor gave him pain killer but says we need to get some tests done tomorrow. Can this be PCS? I mean the symptoms seem to be the same but i hope it's nothing serious. It can be a broken rib too, maybe?

If the Doctor who examined him or at least spoke to him pesonally by phone can't tell, there is no way anyone else can diagnose this.

It could be either and I'm sure the testing will allow the Doctor to diagnose it.
