Tiny itchy red bumps that dry up in a day or two

I have tiny red itchy bumps that pop up on my ankles, legs, back, stomach and pretty much that's it. They come up individually and also in clusters at times. They pop up suddenly, itch more at times than at other times and then dry up within a day or two. The bumps are about the size of a head of a pin. Any ideas? My son was also getting them but my other children are not. This has been going on for about three - four weeks. My son's dr. said he was stumped and that if it continued to see a dermatologist. I will but I thought I'd ASK here first. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks.

Could be eczema? It typically flares up in winter due to dryness of the skin.

Thanks,
Kutra

Have you began using any new laundry detergent? Any new soaps?

This sounds as though it might be an allergy of some kind.
