soft leg lump

My daughter has a soft lump to the right of the shin towards the bottom of the leg. It is not painful and like I said, it is soft to the touch. It is about an inch. I don't want to start jumping to conclusions, so I thought I would start at this site before getting too alarmed. Any thoughts. Thank you.
