small hard painful lumps at the back of ear and scalp

Hi!,

A friend of mine has noticed a few lumps come up behind the left ear and a few limps on the scalp just in a couple of days. Before the lumps could come up she was suffering from severe cold, cough and slight fever. Please advise?

Thanks

Sweetoosona

These lumps are a real nuisance, can be very painful and you can relax because it is very common. First of all you may need to see a doctor who will probably prescribe a mild antibiotic called minocycline. You take two 50mg tabs immediately and then two morning and night for as long as your doctor tells you to, OK? FOR AS LONG AS THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU TO. Then you will have to start using a pH neutral shampoo or a shampoo that keeps the scalp inflammation under control. One brand is called Ionil T and is very good for this. It smells like tar but your hair won't. Also increase your consumption of omega-3 oils from fish or krill. Try to get 1 to 2 grams a day. In some cases, you might be prescribed a scalp lotion like Betnovate or Elocon - it does a great job relieving the pain and itching. Good luck!

I just got a bad allergic reaction to a black hair dye. It started with the same lump and almost a week later I had to go to the dermatologist for a cortizone shot.

The Doctor said it can take up to 7 days for your body to react to a new allergy.

Do you have an itchy scalp? Is your scalp wet like an open wound? Do you have lumps under your skin on the back of your had and neck?

If so go buy a Peppermint Oil based leave in conditioner and leave it on your hair after you shower. It will help you make it through the night without itching. You can leave it in during the day to if you wear a head wrap or bandana.

And call a dermatologist to get a shot. My reaction took over a week in a half to develop so catch it before it gets worse.
