Pimple like bumps on inner thigh area
I have a few small pimple like bumps on my inner thigh. They don't hurt or bother me, but also cannot be popped like regular pimples. Also, they aren't in clusters and do not look like blisters. What could this be?

Do your thighs rub together? Could be from friction.

When I was younger, I was a fat kid. No point mincing words. Also, as is part of my ethnicity, I have no shortage of body hair on my legs and chest. Again, no point in holding back a detail you may want to know in order to get an idea of your own problem if it is similar.

My thighs would rub together to the point I would easilly wear though the thigh material of pants in weeks. Sometimes the bumps were red and tender. Sometimes just the feeling like a solid small mass (pea size to grape size) under the skin. Sometimes they would be a swollen and warm area. Sometimes they would burst and anyone or a combination of the following would come out: Blood, clear fluid, puss. Sometimes the blood was extreemly red and thick. Sometimes bright and light.

Sometimes nothing would burst and they just went away.

My docotr at the time (who had known me since birth), was very old school and direct with his information. It was one of a handful of things. My fatness caused my thighs to creat friction. The friction caused essentially deep skin blistering and/or clogged the hair folicles. Also, the region (being so close to scrotum and ***) is prone to being a path for body sweat from the less clean areas of a person, which when mixed with the other issues, can mean that the sweat can gain hold under the skin or in a skin follicle or pore. But he said not to worry, as long as I lost weight, and took care to pad my thighs to prevent the friction, keep them dry and comfortable with baby powder or if need be an oversized bandaid, it would be fine. Also properly fitting pants help (as making sure the inseam is your actual inseam size and not too big nor too small.

As I lost weight in my late teens, the problem dissappeared. And while my weight has continued to fluctuate over the years (I am now 45), I only recently acquired them again along with a sudden weight gain (from my own lack of activity in the last year for unrelated reasons). Sometimes it's a single mass. Sometimes it is several in the same small region. Sometimes it feels a bit prickly or sensitive under the skin. Sometimes it is not even noticeable.

Bottom line, you can see a doctor, but all they can really do in most cases is expedite what will happen naturally by cutting the area open, and draining it, and charging you for the service which will, when all is said and done, take as long to recover from as you would have to spend to just let it run its route (although admittedly, in some cases where they are persistent or extreem, you may want to see a doctor). From experience, I can tell you that lancing and squeezing and warm compresses can work. They can also make the situation worse, in that you will have to squeeze rather hard in some cases to try and burst the area only to give yourself a rather unfriendly bruise or rash, and unless your very careful a pin or needle for lancing can also further infect the area.

My best advice is to try mild squeezing. Compress the region with warmth as best you can. Keep it covered if possible with gauze or a bandaid. When it starts to burst and drain push slightly harder to drain as completely as possible (squeezing from the outside most region from the rupture spot to push all the stuff forward and out) and do NOT us antibiotic cream immediately. Clean it with alcohol only. Reason why is simple... with antibiotic cream, I have found that you end up with the surface rupture area healing over before the area has compleately drained and then your back to square one in a matter of days. If you're a guy, you might try also wearing white (non dyed) long boxers for added protection. With this type of thing, again from experience, going commando is not highly advised. Also make sure to wash any new pants you purchase BEFORE you wear them. New clothes tend to have chemcials on them that could further inflame the area.

    Hope this helps.

I have the same problem ! Except I started to notice these small bumps showing up after the doctor told me I had hpv related genital warts. The warts are gone, but I noticed these little red pimple like bumps around my inner thigh.. they don't hurt. They are just annoying because they won't go away.
