liver test problem

there are many reasons for increase in the liver enzymes one being certain medications that can cause increase. this happened to my mother and from the waste down her body swelled. There are other reasons that this can happen but it is best to relax have the test and then speak to the Doctor/Consultant and get them to explain everything

howeder the doctors in ganga ram adviced liver transplant and in the process of operation due to seziere attack and INR level crossing 9 the operation had to be stopped in between and the patient expired. was it really required to go for transplant of liver or not

Quite frankly you will never know. Ask for the autopsy report and, if necessary, consult with an Attorney.

You are second guessing trained Physicians, experienced, who may or may not have recommended a liver transplant for all the right reasons.

What is your concern here? Lawsuit? Something else?

I've never heard of liver problems causing swelling only from the waist (which I assume you mean) down.

It's elevated liver enzymes, not increased - at any rate, the causes are: "
Adrenal insufficiency (inadequate levels of hormones released by the adrenal gland)
Alcohol abuse
Alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency (a disorder caused by defective production of the glycoprotein alpha-1-antitrypsin)
Autoimmune disorders of the liver and bile ducts, such as autoimmune hepatitis
Celiac disease
Diabetes
Elevated triglycerides (fat tissues)
Excessive use of certain herbal supplements, such as comfrey, kava, pennyroyal, and skullcap
Hepatic steatosis and steatohepatitis, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)
Infections such as viral hepatitis and mononucleosis
Medications including certain nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cholesterol-lowering medications, antibiotics, anti-seizure medications, and acetaminophen
Metabolic liver disease such as hemochromatosis and Wilson's disease
Muscle disorders
Obesity
Thyroid disorders
Tumors of the liver or bile ducts"

the doctors said it is fulminant therefore the problem is acute liver failure
what does this mean. was it not curable. was it necessary to go for transplant. this is only for my understanding and not for any other purpose.

doctors said liver problem is combined with fulminant and hepatitis and therefore treatment is not possible and the problem has become serious. what does this mean. how he got this disease. he was only 21 years old engineering student. no bad habits. no drink no smoke etc. he got fever and took paracetamol thrice daily for two days. On the third day morning blood test was done and above reading came in the evening. In the afternoon he vomited and blood came out. In the evening he was admitted in local hospital. Next morning again blood was taken for testing. in the evening report came and all the values were increased. Sgot and sgpt were around 12000. he was shifted to another hospital where they adviced transplant. and during operation he got seizere attack and INR increased to more than 9 and operation was suspended. what went wrong. this is only for academic interest and future guidance and not for any other purpose. was treatment not possible. why all this happened suddenly or this happened slowly . was it a old disease or it happened suddenly.
