High Blood Pressure

I'm a senior citizen, was told in the past month I have High Blood pressure my medication
Lisinopril 20mg 2 daily
Toprol XL 50mg 1 daily

?

My pulse rate has come down quite a bit, my Blood pressure has come down a little
in my limited knowledge, I thought when the heart didn't pump as hard creating a fast pulse rate, my blood pressure would come down more than it has.

I've been taking medication for a month. about how long will it take to bring blood pressure down to a normal level.

Thanks for you reply.

It takes a while even if you alter your lifestyle. These changes cant possibly happen over night, but you dont say how old you are. Senior to me is anyone over 75 ! I suggest you get your own blood pressure monitor and test it once in a while so you can see the fluctuation in yourself under different circumstances. Walking is a wonder way to bring bl. pressure down to a reasonable level.

I am on altace and adalat and it took me at least a good six months before I noticed any appreciable different, but then I was on cholesterol meds as well and that helped a lot. My physician wanted my blood pressure down to l20 over 60 and she got it; before that it was topping at l80 over 90 and at the worst over 200.

I changed my lifestyle completely however I never smoked so that helped a lot.

By the way my low bp is no indication of what yours should be, we all vary.
