    Fetal kidney problems
    I'm 34 weeks pregnant.
When I was 27 weeks I got an ultrasound that revealed my baby had a slightly enlarged kidney, it was 5.5mm. The normal size for fetal kidneys is 5mm.
At 33 weeks I got another ultrasound to check up on the problem. The size of both kidneys increased by a lot. One is 10mm and the other is 16mm.
My OB faxed my papers to the high risk ward of the hospital. Now it is the weekend and I cannot get ahold of anyone to even see what will be happening.
I have been trying to look it up on the internet but I don't know the name of what my baby has. If anyone has gone through this or knws about it, could you please share some information. I have been really concerned and your help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

Try googling hydronephrosis in a fetus. Hydronephrosis simply means swelling of the kidney. There is more than one possible cause of kidney swelling, so I could not say what is the cause of your fetus' enlarged kidneys.
