In the last 10 mths i realised tht mayb my husband hasnt been all tht faithful in our marriage.he had hepatitis b in 2005 july..we live in africa n he had travelled on a business trip to west africa and when he came bck in a matter of 2 weeks he was diagnosed with hepatitis..although i`ve read various causes of getting infected with it but mostly everybody has been saying its a sexually transmitted disease..i would really like to know what the main cause of hepatitis b n does it go away completely?he hasnt repeated his blood test since aug 2005.. suggest.

This man was unfaithful - one way or the other - Hep B is body fluids or blood transmission ot - take your pick - the man was sich and got a blood transfusion, shared drugs ORRRRR - take your pick???

I agree with rhph, it is transmitted through bodily fluids so there is a pretty good chance he was unfaithful.

I wouldn't go jumping to conclusions. While Hepatitis B is primarily a sexually transmitted disease (via body fluids) it is 100 times more infectious than HIV and, unlike HIV, can live outside the body (in dried blood) for a week. Would you accuse health care workers infected by needle sticks of being unfaithful? Talk to your husband.

Regardless of the cause, the focus now should be on treatment and prevention. If your husband did not develop a fulminant acute infection (which it looks like he hasn't since he was infected some time ago) the infection may "clear" and you won't have to worry about it. Blood tests can confirm this (if HBsAg is negative and Anti-HBc and Anti-HBs are positive). If he has developed a chronic infection there are treatments available to decrease the risk of cirrhosis and other complications. For you, there is an effective Hep B vaccine available that you should receive.

thx for ur ans.the thought of him getting hep b from somebody at close proximity is scary.i cant even accuse him or ask him now how he got it coz he wont tell me n its gonna end up in a big fight.at the time he was sick nobody here told us how u get hep b but arnd 4 mths back somebody told me n i checked online n got to know n since then its killing me inside..now u might think how cud i b so ignorant n not go online or ask dr`s at tht time the causes u can say blind FAITH in HIM.once again i gotta pretend with him as if nthing is bothering me or is on my mind coz the consequences of this ques will b v serious..
