Calf pain--vein problem

I stand on my feet a lot due to my job and I noticed today a small vein stickin out of my right calf and is painful. It feels like something like a needle is stuck in it. What could this be? |

I fractured a metatarsal 2 and a half weeks ago and have been in an airboot/cast boot since then. About 3/4 ays ago I started getting pain in my calf. It comes and goes but can be very sore. If I massage the muscle it makes the pain worse. What should I do?
