Never had this surgery, but I had recurring anal abcesses for about a year. Have you tried sitz baths yet. They seem to work really well. They reduce the swelling and inflamation and relieve the pain.

have you been taking your doc's advice as to staying away from heavy activities and long periods of sitting?

on a scale from 0 - 10, 0 being no pain and 10 being the absolute worst pain...what's the pain rating?

I do agree that the sitz bath is therapeutic and will make you feel a whole lot better...but if there's moderate pain after 4 months of surgery...there may be an issue.

you can try the nitro gycerin onitment but do not use your fingers there are known studies that this methods works my dr did everything to keep me from being cut i did have to take off work they say the usual return to work is 2 wks but it depends on how you heal i was diagnosed in april of 07 but did not have surgery until sep 07 i tried of methods it didnt work for me i waited and keep putting it off that when i had surgery i had a abcess under the fissure the other methods may work for you i wanted surgery to be my last option the surgery is painful but once i got over it i would recommend it instead of being in pain everytime you go i hope you youare doing sitz bathe now i know you are scared i was too believe you me just thinking about having strangers look @ my bum but i am so glad i did i would cry because i would be in so much pain constant pain i would have spasms which are very painful but i am still tender but would not go back to before surgery for anything in the world

I guess what scares me isint the being cut or the surgery itself. I'm more so to the after effects. I'm worried that I might loose control in the middle of a sales meeting or find it hard to hold it when I have to go or pass gas. Do you have any issues like that?
