cystitis that won't go away!

I get cystits once a year. I was in the ER Monday in the middle of the night with another bout. I was given Cipro 500 mg twice a day for three days along with Pyriduim. My problem is that i still feel pressure. I don't burn or really hurt but the pressure is getting to me. I saw my doctor on Friday and she checked my urine and said it was clear but put me on Cipro for 5 more days. Normally the symptoms subside after a day or two, anyone ever experience this before? I am going kinda crazy here................??

It may be that your body now has a tolerance to the Cipro. You may need something stronger. Are you still taking the Pyridium?

Do you know or have you developed a pattern as to what might be causing the cystitis?

It is usually "honeymoon" related and I am careful about urinating before and after intercourse. The urine looked clear to her so the Cipro must be working....the pyridium does nothing for this type of pain, it is more spasms I think. It isn't horrible, I just don't like it and want it to go away. My biggest frear is Interstitual cystitis but I did have an infection. Warm baths give me a little relief. If I knew it would go away, I could chill but thinking it is never going to stop only makes the spasms worse.....UGH!

Oh, yes, honeymoon cystitis in one of the most common infections seen in doctor's offices today.

It sounds as though you are being treated well though. Be assured that it will go away.

Now, you say that you urinate before and after. But he must also make sure he is sparkling clean too. Washing right before. Another thing that helps is making sure you have enough lubrication.
