    basics of probability
I was absent the day that my class began doing probability and I'm a little behind. My teacher is using a method involving NRPQ and I don't really understand it- does anyone recognize it? I think the N is the total number of throws, the R is what you are looking for- like a 1 on a six sided die, something like that, and the P is the probability fraction, but the Q is a different fraction and I don't know what it is.

If you don't recognize this method, have any other advice? I was supposed to go to extra help today but my teacher was too busy to get to me. :/

I am guessing here and thinking it is the binomial probability. q=1-p.
