    multiple-concept kinematics
The question I was given is:

A cab driver picks up a customer and delivers her 2 km away on a straight route. The driver accelerates to the speed limit, and on reaching it, begins to deccelerate at once. The magnitude of the decceleration is three times the magnitude of the acceleration. Find the lengths of the acceleration and deceleration phases.

I know I'm to be some of the basic 5 kinematics equations but I'm having trouble figuring out which one and getting started. I know I have the total distance, and variables on acceleration comparing the two phases but I don't know where to go from here.

I cannot figure out this question! "An airplane can reach speeds of 980m/s. How long would it take a plane traveling at this speed to travel 1500KM? Why would it actually take longer than this? So my teacher wants either m/s or km/h and I want to change it it to km/h:confused:

I am having trouble answering this problem. Please offer any suggestion. There are several parts to be answered: 1) An object moves along the x axis according to the equation x(t) = (3.90t2 - 2.00t + 3.00) m. a) Determine the instantaneous speed at t = 1.60 s and at t = 3.10 s. b)...
