    How to find average speed?
    I go to kumon and I have question that says... A car takes 7 hours and 50 minutes to travel 549 and 9/10(9 over 10)km. What is the average speed of the car in km per hour?

    The second part to the question is how many minutes will it take the car to travel 19 and 1/5 km

    The average speed is calculated by taking the distance traveled and dividing by the time it takes. The only complication is that you need to convert 7 hours and 50 minutes into hours. 50 minutes is 50/60 of an hour, or 0.. 8333 hours. So the total time is 7.333 hours. Hence you have 549.9 KM divided by 7.333 hours.

    Once you have the average speed, the time it takes to travel a certain distance is determined by time = distance/speed. You have the speed in kilometers per hour, so you need to convert it to kilometers per minute.

    Post back if you have any further questions.

    Hey, just remember that average speed is total distance over total time, OK?

    By juggling with this equation, you may find any of these (ie total time, total distance or average speed) if you are given the other values, in the second part of your question.

    to calculate speed,you will need to consider any of the following combination of units for distance with respect to time: kilometers per hour (km/h) centimeter per second (cm/s) meter per second (m/s) or even centimeter per day (cm/day)
    to compute speed scientist came up with
    distance d
    Speed=------------------- v=---------
    time t
    the formula may be written by simply using the letters v to represent speed d for distance and t for time
