What is displacement ? Give some example of present displacement ?

While john is traveling along a straight interstate highway, he notices that the mile marker reads 252km. He travels until he reaches the 149km marker and then retraces his path to the 168km marker. What is his dispacement? How far has he traveled?

When calculating for final displacement, what is the difference between these two equations? 1. X(f) = x(o) + V(o)t + at2 / 2 2. X(f) = x(o) + (v+v(o)) / 2 X(f) = final displacement, x(o) = original displacement, v(o) = original velocity.
