I need help, the question states; What is the slope of the line 2y=3x-6? My instructor wants to see the work.

Solve for why. What is the coefficient of x?. That is your slope.

All you have to do is divide by 2 and you're finished.

DUDE! Its such a simple question! But hey! Notice that here the slope is NEGATIVE!
ebaines (Aug 25, 2008 08:50 AM): Nope. Remember the general form of a line: y=mx+b, where m is the slope. Here m is positive.   Source:

Sorry guys! Here is one mistake of mine! Slope is POSITIVE here! Over excitement is very dangerous!

If you know the general formula of general linear equations, why = mx + c, then, just make why the subject of formula like galactus said, by dividing all the numbers by 2. To help you understand why is this so, you can sketch the line on graph paper and see the results. The slope will be ascending (or positive, not negative).

You may surely come to further questions about the y-intercept. In the above formula I gave you, the y-intercept will be 'c'. Through the sketch, you'll be able to find these easily. With time and practice, you'll be able to deduce these easily and quickly. I hope it helped!
